Thank you for your interest in joining the team here at N1OES. We supply amateur radio communications for emergencies, and community events such as races, parades, bike-a-thons, and other events in both Nevada and Sierra counties. In order to join our team you must meet the following requirements. You must be a valid licensed amateur radio operator. You must be willing to submit to a criminal history check. You can not be a convicted felon. Certain misdemeanor crimes may also disqualify you. Within 90 days of joining you must complete the new NIMS IS-100b and IS-700a F.E.M.A. training requirements.

All ARES members also must make some level of commitment. Currently we have twice a month on-the-air nets. From time-to-time, ARES will also participate in a local government training exercise. ARES members must participate in at least one event per year. If any ARES member fails to participate in a training event, or check into nets for a period exceeding one year, you will be dropped from the membership roster.

F.E.M.A. requirements now state that all A.R.E.S. members must now complete NIMS IS-100b and IS-700a. We strive to have our members complete more of the NIMS Modules beyond the first two stated. If you fail to complete the minimum standards, you will not be allowed to continue as a member.

Applicants should be aware that emergency and community events can require you to work a number of various situations. You may be asked to work from home on a base station, or asked to work from a mobile station. You may be asked to travel long distances, and even out of state emergencies for mutual assistance.
